0.5  Usage Policies and Charges

0.5.1.  Usage Policies*:  A responsible and courteous approach to the operation, reserving and other users of the confocal system is expected.  The booking calendar lists booked users' contact information to help with scheduling and coordinated powering down of the lasers.

  • Only users who have completed the introductory training course may operate and book the system.
  • Users must use only their own WindowsNT account.  No exceptions!
  • The confocal system is available from 7 am to 9 pm (21:00) Monday to Friday, 7 am to 6 pm (18:00) Saturday to Sunday
  • Walk up use by qualified users is encouraged.  Please enter yourself in the booking calendar immediately so others know the system is being used.
  • Lower lens turret and wipe off lenses and objective body with lens tissue before leaving.
  • Power down system appropriately and in consideration of next confirmed user's arrival time.
  • The last user that is or was booked for the day is responsible for ensuring that the system is powered down.
  • Make sure entire area is clean.  Leave only foot prints and take only images.

0.5.2  Charges*:

  • Usage charge - $6.25 per 15 minutes. Minimum charge time is one hour for each and every logon.
  • Cancellations less than 24 hours prior to booked time will result in the charging of one hour of use.
  • No shows will be charged for the time booked.
  • Initial training sessions - four hours - $100 for each user (max. 3 users per session) - Auditors free
  • Subsequent training sessions - same as usage charge ($6.25 per 15 minutes)
  • Access key deposit $20 (optional).
