0.8 Complete Shutdown of Confocal System  |
The Confocal Computer is normally left on since it is a network server,
which provides access of image data to other computers. However situations may arise
when it is desirable to power down the system completely, such as during scheduled or
repeated power outages, maintenance, impending hurricane or catastrophic system failure.
Emergency shut down
- Turn Laser Power Knobs to Minimum.
- Key off lasers but leave fans on.
- Turn off microscope, mercury lamp,
- Shut down WindowsNT.
- log on as shutdown with no password.
- Power off confocal control system (scan electronics).
- When screen displays "It is now safe to power off"
power off computer (switch is at the back of the computer case, just below
the power cord connector) and monitors.
- Turn off laser fans.
Scheduled complete shut down.
- Stop scanning.
- Turn power to minimum on lasers. Lasers should left running at
minimum power for 10 minutes before keying them off.
- Key off the lasers if you are the last person using the confocal for the
day, or you know no one will be using the system in the next four hours.
- Turn off the mercury lamp if you are the last person using the confocal
for the day, or you know no one will be using the system in the next one hour.
- Clean oil off lens.
- Save your work on the computer and exit LeicaTCS-NT
- Shut down WindowsNT.
- log on as ShutDown with no password
- When screen displays "It is now safe to turn off computer"
power off computer (switch is at the back of the computer case, just
below the power cord connector)
- Turn off monitors
